One tooth, one implant, one crown
The implant takes the place of the missing root, the abutment connects it to the surface, and a hand finished ceramic crown matches the neighbours in shade and shape.
Nothing is drilled on the teeth either side, which is the main reason we prefer an implant to a bridge for a single gap.
What it is
Why an implant is usually the best answer to a single missing tooth
When one tooth is lost, the options are a denture, a bridge or an implant. A bridge relies on the teeth either side, which usually have to be cut down to carry it. A denture rests on the gum and moves. An implant stands on its own root, so the neighbouring teeth are left exactly as they are.
The crown is made from ceramic matched to your natural shade and shaped to sit in the gum like a real tooth. Front teeth are the most demanding, because the gum line has to look natural too, so Dr Kal shapes the gum with a temporary crown before the final one is made.
Where a tooth is failing but still present, it can often be removed and the implant placed in the same appointment, which shortens the whole process.

How it works at LUSSO, step by step

Assessment
Examination, CBCT scan and digital scan. We check the bone at the site, the bite and your gum health, and give you a written plan.

Placement
Under local anaesthetic, usually in under an hour. A temporary tooth is fitted where the gap is visible.

Healing
Around three months while the implant fuses with the bone. You eat and speak normally.

Crown
A digital impression, then your ceramic crown is made and fitted, checked in the bite and polished.
- 05
Aftercare
A hygiene visit and a review, then regular care alongside your other teeth.

Single tooth implant: your questions answered
Is a single implant better than a bridge?
For most people, yes. An implant does not depend on the neighbouring teeth, so they stay untouched, and it keeps the bone in the gap healthy. A bridge can be the better choice if the teeth either side already need crowns. We show you both at your assessment.
Can the implant be placed on the day the tooth is removed?
Often, yes. If the socket is intact and there is no infection, an immediate implant saves months. If the site needs to heal first, we fit a temporary tooth so you are not left with a gap.
Will the crown match my other teeth?
The crown is made by our laboratory from a digital shade and shape record, and checked against your own teeth in natural light before it is fitted.
How long will I be without a tooth?
You should never be without a visible tooth. A temporary is fitted at placement where the gap shows, and the final crown follows once the implant has fused.
What does aftercare involve?
Brush and clean between the implant and its neighbours as you would a natural tooth, and keep your hygiene visits. Implants are checked at every examination.
