What cosmetic dentistry covers, and how we choose the right route
Cosmetic dentistry is not one treatment but a toolkit. Whitening changes colour. Clear aligners change position. Composite bonding adds shape and closes gaps without cutting the tooth. Porcelain veneers make larger changes to shape, size and colour with hand made ceramic. ICON blends away white marks. A smile makeover is the considered combination of these.
The order matters. Aligning first often means less bonding, whitening before veneers means a brighter shade to match to, and bonding on a straight tooth lasts longer than bonding used to disguise a crooked one. That is why we plan the whole journey before the first appointment, and why every cosmetic plan begins with a Digital Smile Design preview.
Dr Kal's approach is additive wherever possible: composite and no preparation veneers preserve your enamel, and porcelain is reserved for where it is the better long term answer. The result should look like your teeth, only calmer.

A written plan sets out the sequence, appointments and fees. Often the answer is simpler than people expect.

Treatment
Aligners, whitening, bonding, veneers or ICON, in the agreed order, with reviews between stages.

Finish and maintain
Final polish, photographs, and a maintenance plan: hygiene visits, night guard if you grind, and top up whitening.

Cosmetic dentistry: your questions answered
Which cosmetic treatment is right for me?
It depends on what you would like to change. Colour alone usually means whitening. Small chips and gaps suit composite bonding. Crooked teeth suit aligners, often followed by bonding. Larger changes in shape and colour suit porcelain veneers. The Digital Smile Design appointment answers this properly.
Will it look natural?
That is the aim of every plan. Dr Kal designs for your face, keeps the characteristics that make teeth look real, and avoids the uniform, oversized look. You approve the design before treatment starts.
Do I have to have my teeth filed down?
Not usually. Composite bonding is additive, and many veneers need little or no preparation. Where porcelain needs some enamel removed to sit properly, we tell you exactly how much and why, and we never remove more than necessary.
Can I see what my smile will look like first?
Yes. Digital Smile Design shows you a preview on screen, and for bonding and veneers we can place a temporary trial smile on your teeth so you can see it in the mirror and in a photograph.
How much is a smile makeover?
It ranges from a few hundred pounds for whitening and edge bonding to several thousand for veneers or aligners combined with bonding. Every plan is itemised. See the fee guide for guide prices.
